My name is Teodora Buba and I am a visual artist from Bucharest, Romania. The works I am exhibiting at The Museum of Visual Materials in Sioux Falls are represented by a collection of 20 abstract paintings named ''In the City''.
My inspiration comes from a collection of works called '' Seeds of Light'' that I have started in university while working on my masters and kept working at it throughout the years. Having this wonderful opportunity of exhibiting at the Museum of Visual Materials I thought changing the expression and moving the image in a different direction and this is how the new collection ''In The City'' took shape.
I have approached a purely abstract image, almost geometrical playing with shape , color, perspective and at times borrowing an almost graphic like expression. This collection is a combination of a number of things that I love, all put together. My style is pure abstract, moving chromatically towards saturation of color aiming at a playfulness that I often embrace in my paintings. Along those lines the graphics are strong, the ideas subtle; everything metaphorically meets through the image that just formed :''In The City'' .
I grew up in Bucharest, Romania and even thought the skyline it is not resembling New York's majesty the atmosphere and pace may at times be very similar. In this works I am trying to depict my love for metropolis around the world anywhere those me be , from New York to Sioux Falls, from Paris to London, from Minneapolis to Indianapolis, etc.
I invite the viewer to immerse in this imaginary universe where energy and ideas spark new dimensions!
