Happy fall, y’ all! The first official day of Autumn this year is Friday, September 22nd. If you are like me, you are ready for the leaves to change, cool weather and all things pumpkin!
I have a very simple wood pumpkin creation to kick this autumn season off! This would make a great centerpiece, decoration for a shelf or on a desk. Wherever you place your wood pumpkin, feel proud you made it yourself!
First chop a two-by-four into three, five inch blocks. Sand the edges and watch out for splinters!
My wood chunks are not perfectly all five inches. Oh well! Its homemade, it doesnt have to be perfect and still turned out great! Im just glad I still have all my fingers from using the saw!
For a more rustic feel, I added just a dab of acrylic orange paint to my dry brush, then use light and quick brush strokes.
Using a hot glue gun, glue all three wood pieces together.
To top the pumpkin, you could use a small scrap wood chunk, or a wine cork would be very cute. Paint the stem of your pumpkin either a brown or a green. Hot glue the top piece on for the stem. Also, put on the finishing touches by wrapping twine around the stem and pumpkin a few times. Glue a faux leaf on the side and your pumpkin is completed!
Option- grab a black sharpie and make your pumpkin a jack-o-lantern!
