National Reading day will be held on Monday, January 23rd. This is an annual event which celebrates an inspires reading to children across America.
The Museum of Visual Materials will be honoring National Reading day by having several stations of children’s books with a themed craft to go with it.
Open house style event from 9am-4pm with special storytime at 10am, 11am & 2pm.
Story: Giraffes Cant Dance by Giles Adreae & Guy Parker-Rees
Craft: Creating a giraffe with clothespins and pasting brown paper spots on a coloring sheet of a giraffe.
Story: Secret Pizza Party by Adam Rubin & Daniel Salieri
Craft: Making a slice of pizza using construction paper, paper plate & crayons.
Story: Trains Go by Steve Light
Craft: Print out this template and cut a toilet paper roll in half. Cut a slit to each half to put the paper train in for wheels.
Stories: A Gruesome Stew by P.Z. Mann & Jim Harris and I'm just a Jealous Monster published by Pocket Money Press
Craft: Simply print out a coloring sheet, color and add pom poms for the tail and nose.
Story: I'm Gonna Like Me by Jamie Lee Curtis & Laura Cornell
Craft: Creating self portraits by printing out face shapes and creating your face using yarn, googly eyes and markers.
