I grabbed a styrofoam pumpkin from the Dollar Tree and cut it in half using a pumpkin carving kit. It was surprisingly very easy to split my faux pumpkins.
Then, I painted the pumpkin using acrylic paint. That was a hard choice of what paint color to choose… green, white, or orange with a black jack o lantern face!? I decided on a blueish -green I mixed together.
The background is a wood board I chopped 7in. long. Before painting the board, staple a ribbon or twine to the back if you want to hang your craft project up.
I used brown tempera paint to create a darker wood stain look. I love using this trick, because it is low odor and less messy than stain.
Once everything is dry, hot glue to pumpkin to the wood background.
Finishing touches include hot gluing faux leaves and wrapping twine around the stem. So many possibilities!
