Summer is here...finally! If you're looking to freshen up your home décor for the season, here is a perfect summer project.
You will need a wood board, maybe you have some wood scraps laying around or you could purchase a precut wood piece at a craft store. I cut my wood piece so it was 6in. wide and 11in. height.
I wanted my wood to be a bit darker in color, so I mixed coffee with brown acrylic paint and applied that to my board. Yes, coffee! Of course, I waited until I was fully caffeinated, and my coffee turned cold. It is a less smelly version of using stain from a home improvement store. It also aged the board a little bit, which I liked the vintage look.
I printed out an image of an outline of a mason jar, you can print yours out using my template. I cut the mason jar to use as a guide for adding interior lines and the outline of jar. A black sharpie marker worked great.
Then, using a staple gun, I attached the fake flowers. I also stapled twine or ribbon to the back, so it would be able to hang.
For a finishing touch, I attached a bow from ribbon using a hot glue gun. This also helped to hide some of the staples from attaching flower and leaves.
I created another project using turquoise acrylic paint and enjoyed how it turned out! It would be great to make three of them that matched for great décor look.
We created this project in our May's Craft Night, join us for our next Craft Night!
