Museum of Visual Materials has a craft area filled with art supplies and recyclable materials to create whatever kind of art project you would like. There is no charge for the community Monday - Wednesday 9am - 4pm. We also have classes outside of museum hours that are held in the craft area for all ages.
In our craft corner, we used pumps for our jugs of paint. They worked great, but eventually got clogged. When the paint pump is slightly clogged and you push the pump down to place paint on your palette, it will squirt off into a random direction, usually on your clothes.
To fix the issue of paint being squirted into odd directions, we purchased refillable condiment bottles and filled them up with paint. So far, they have been very easy to use and do not create as much of a mess.
It is also nice they do not take up as much space as the paint jugs.
A fun painting project to do with your paint bottles is to squirt out a design onto your paper. Create a pattern, draw your name or have fun making squiggly lines.
Then, fold the painted paper.
Open it up to find a suprise piece of abstract art.
Now that's a conversation starter! Happy painting everyone.
